Frequently asked questions
I get asked the same questions a lot, almost every day. While I try to respond individually, it's overwhelming and distracts from making art so I decided to answer them here for ya!
What tools do you use?
For traditional art and commissions, I use a BIC mechanical pencil for rough sketches. For inking, I use PIGMA Sakura Fine Brush Pens and Sharpies. For coloring, I use Copic markers. The paper I use is smooth vellum bristol board.
For digital art, I use Procreate and clip studio paint on my iPad pro, in conjunction with Photoshop.
I use custom brushes I created for my pencils and inking.
Who are your inspirations?
One of my biggest inspirations is Jack "The King" Kirby, but I also love the classic art/inking of Saul Romita and Steve Ditko. I am also inspired by modern artists like Wilfredo Torres, Babs Tarr, Joe Quinones, Doc Shaner, Michael Cho, Frank Cho and Paolo Rivera.
Are you an artist full-time?
Yes I am! In addition to creating comics and drag art, I work as a senior graphic designer at an events company. I draw and paint murals, buses and anything — I just get to draw all day! I've been there for over 13 years and I love it.
Do you have any advice/tips for aspiring artists?
Don't be afraid to make mistakes, it's the best way to learn. I've tried and failed to draw things so many times, but it's what makes my art stronger with each passing day. And the most important tip: practice, practice, practice! There is no tool or app that can replace hard work and practice!
Will you have a booth at dragcon NEW YORK?
Unfortunately New York is a bit too far for me at the moment.
Where can I buy your art?
I open my online shop for 48 hours on the first of each month. If you sign up for my Patreon, I send postcards and prints to my supporters as rewards each month. I also have some tshirt designs for sale in my redbubble shop.
Can i request a specific print?
Are you single?
Sorry, I'm not. I have a boyfriend. We're both huge Drag Race fans!
